The Cultural history of Mapuche culture when the Spaniards discovered Chile, Pedro Valdivia was able to get as far South as the Bio-Bio River and was stopped by the Mapuches. History doesn’t stop there, in time some Mapuches eventually were civilized while others remained behind.

Now the ones that still live in communities manage to survive in extremely poor living conditions, using horses and oxen as means of transportation, growing and harvesting what they can from the natural resources they have around them. .
